About this workshop
These web pages provides information about the fourth MT 3D inversion workshop (MT3DINV4), focused on mineral exploration using natural-source electromagnetic methods, both ground (magnetotellurics, tipper), and airborne (ZTEM, MobileMT).
The workshop will be held on the two and a half days prior to the 27th EM Induction Workshop (EMIW27). This series of EMIW workshops was initiated in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1972 by Dr. Rosemary Hutton, an exceptional and impressive pioneering geophysicist. The plan is for the two workshops, MT3DINV4 and EMIW27, to dovetail into each other and take advantage of one location.
As with the previous MT3DINV workshops, MT3DINV4 brings together a mix of 3D inversion code writers and users to assess how well codes perform and how effectively they are being applied in practice.
Participants are asked to produce forward solutions for a defined Test Model (a sphere in a half-space, for which analytical solutions exist) and to invert numerical data for a Secret Model representing a realistic mineralised body in a Canadian geological setting.
New for MT3DINV4: we will also distribute airborne ZTEM and MobileMT responses for the Secret Dataset, and distribute a real field dataset.

Note: Following the MT3DINV4 workshop there will be a Geotools demonstration given by Alice Pavesi of Viridien on the afternoon of Sunday 2nd August. To register for the Geotools demo alone, please fill in a registration.
